Mystical Sagada: Boarding the bus

Republished circa 5/02/2006

We've heard all the raves from Ria that SADAGA is a mystical and one of the 100-things-to-see-before-you-die place. So curious, Georgia, Joseph(Joe), Yiek and I decided to go to there last weekend.

This trip from start to finish was one heck of an adventure. All my other trips paled in comparison. So I hope I can tell this story as interesting as the time we spent there.

Monday

I'm not really an O.C. in planning a trip, I didn't make any room reservations, didn't have a clear itinerary. I think it is more fun this way; I like surprises and what a surprise the trip proved to be. I reserved our selves’ seats to Baguio since all other buses going to banaue or bontoc were all full. I attempted to make some room reservations but forgot about it by the middle of the day that I ended up with no reservations at all. I just trusted Ria's claims that it would be easy to find a place to stay.

Friday

We were scheduled to leave at 12:15 am Saturday morning. So, I went home 7:30 to prepare our things and watch PBB. All right, I admit I went home early so I can watch PBB teen edition. But to my chagrin, I left my keys at the office and I had to wait 45 minutes for Yiek to go home. I was too lazy to go back to the office to get my keys. So, I just sat at the fire exit stairs and ate my dinner, I felt like a homeless nobody.

We were told to go to Victory Liner station 2 hours before the trip. I was watching a little bit of "Sa piling mo" (I know jologs), so we were a bit late in going there and arrived 10:30. Georgia wanted to watched Encantadia and Kim San Soon's finale so Yiek and I just went ahead.

I was smug enough to gloat that I have reserve tickets while others were waiting for cancelled ones just so they can ride the bus. But but .. the tickets we reserved were for April 28 not April 29! (it was a misunderstanding) and we were left with no reservations, no tickets and no bus to go to Baguio. Yiek was pretty much irritated because our other companions were not yet there. We were having a mini shouting match and I wanted to throw our bags for the heck of burning out my frustrations. I called Georgia to please please hurry up because our trip to Baguio was scheduled at 11:30 pm and Makati is quite faraway and the traffic was terrible in Edsa.

11:30 pm...wala pa rin sina Georgia! The bus was leaving and there were still at the skywalk! They didn't even know where the station was. I was running around trying to look for them and Yiek was VERY pissed off. Good thing the driver was very kind and suggested that they go to a certain hotel and they would just pass them by. The passengers were pretty much grumbling. It was an amazing race experience to the two of them.
